Mastitis in dairy cattle is undoubtedly one of the main problems of buiatrics today. Antibiotics, even the most modern ones, are recognised as not being able to overcome the problems. Above all, there is usually no definitive cure. The recurrence rate is high. This led to early experiments in veterinary homoeopathy by Mc Leod, among others. He introduced the combination SSC (Sulphur, Silicicea, Carbo vegetabilis). Therefore, these three remedies are included in the above complex. The organotropic effect of Phytolacca and Asa foetida on the mammary gland is undisputed. Asa foetida has an oxytocin-like effect that occurs about 15 min. after administration. As a result, the udder empties better and thus contributes purely mechanically to the healing of the mastitis. The two specific nosodes of staphylococcal and streptococcal milk contribute their share to the healing via the immune system. With this remedy, chronic mastitis can often be healed without anitibiotics. In combination with antibiotics, the long-term success is much better. Recurrences are much rarer. In acute mastitis, the combination with Aconitum comp. ad us. vet. together with appropriate antibiotics is extremely effective.

Indications
Mastitis in dairy cattle, but also in all other animal species. In cows that are difficult to milk, to improve the milk flow.

Dosage
Chronic mastitis: 2 times 3 ml per day; for 10 days, each 15 min before milking.
In case of acute mastitis, give 2 to 3 ml 4 to 6 times a day for the first 2 days. Always give two doses 15 minutes before milking. After improvement, continue to give 2 x 3 ml for several days.

Combinations
With Aconitum comp. ad us. vet. for acute mastitis. With Lachesis muta comp. ad us. vet. in acute mastitis with intoxication. With Lapis albus D6 (DHU) especially for staphylococci (3 times 3 tablets per day for at least 10 days.) With Calcium fluoratum comp. ad us. vet. for mastitis with induration or haematoma. Quantity and dosage according to the instructions or dosage prescription of the added complex preparation.
With the combination of Phytolacca vet.comp. and Lapis albus D6 (3x per day 3 tablets) we have had many hopeless cases of mastitis with Staph. aurens and especially with Streptococcus uberis in the last years, and this all over Switzerland.
